It's a good thing I live over an hour and a half away from Old Lucketts Store or else I might seriously run the risk of cramming so much furniture into my bedroom that I can no longer step inside.
I may have mentioned before that I currently share a house, approximately 10'x11' of which is mine to fill with furniture. So far I have a queen-sized bed, a desk, an armoire, a footboard box, two side tables and about 20 framed pictures. And now a chair. And two more pictures.
The two drawings actually came from German Favorite Antiques, which is a really very cool store. These two puppies were just so cute that my mom bought them for me! I'd like to put them in an entrance hall or above a writing desk, if that space weren't already filled in my life.
This chair came from Old Lucketts and was so perfect for only $70 that I had to have it. I plan to reupholster it in a bright lattice fabric. No idea where I'm going to put it....

A Bedroom in the Country
Photo of the day:
I like this photo for several reasons like... the combination of pink and yellow, the vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, the really fun rug, and because the over-sized weave on the beds reminds me of the giant knit stools I saw on etsy the other day!
Also, it looks like it is out in the country where I would very much like to be this weekend instead of in Washington, DC dying of the heatwave! Happy Friday!!

And speaking high-gloss paint on ceilings...
My last post was rattling around in my head when I came across this photo in my files. I love the dark grey walls and ceiling that do not look dark and depressing at all when combined with the fun colorful rug and pillows and cheerful white furniture!
And the reflective surface of the dark paint amplifies light and reflects the light colors of the furniture, also helping keep the room far from gloomy.
This photo is one of my older ones, from before I was keeping track of my sources. If anyone knows where the credit goes, let me know!

Two Living Rooms and a Dining Room
In honor of Lonny's July/August issue that came out yesterday - my three favorite photos:
Ruthie Sommers' living room in Los Angeles. I love the pink fabric on the chair by the fireplace and the high-gloss ceilings that give the space an infinity pool feeling...
Heidelberg Suites in Germany. Especially love the navy stripe on the curtains...
Lauren Gold's Chicago apartment. According to Lonny, the wheat-sheaf table is a nod to a similar table that was once in Coco Chanel's apartment in Paris. And since I'm always a fan of classics reinterpreted, of course I love the vintage Louis XVI dining set done in black leather with nail head trim...

Navy Blue Stripes, Silver Lamp and Picture Frames, Dark Wood Furniture, and the Grand Union Flag
Favorite Picture of the day:
One last hurrah for America before the 4th of July is officially a dim memory.
On January 1, 1776, the Grand Union Flag was first flown on Prospect Hill as a the symbol for the rebelling colonists.
One of my favorite rooms ever. And I want that pillow.
